To deliberate on important issues prevailing in “Naga homeland” and also to take “political decision” for the best interest of peace and unity of the Nagas, the NNC has convened a general meeting in Nagaland’s eastern region (Tuensang) August 18. A statement issued by NNC vice president Kiumukam Yimchungrii has welcomed any “political group or NGOs in the homeland” who worked and strived for peace and unity for the Nagas. It also state that NNC would always work and strive for peace and unity of the Nagas for the salvation of Naga people and nation on the stand of the Non-violence as declared in the very inception of the Naga political movement for sovereignty. Pointing out that it was the “Naga political foundation” and the “parent body (institution) of the Nagas”, the NNC said it has been working for peace and unity for more than 20 years after division in 1980, adding it was still on that line of peace and unity in the “homeland.”
