Rs.123.32 cr for Police modernization

: Minister of state for home affairs, Mullappally Ramachandran in written reply in the Rajya Sabha Wednesday said the Ministry had released central funds amounting to Rs. 4701.56 Crore for the modernization of police forces (MPF) during the last four years- 2006-07 to 2009-10. Among the Northeastern states, out of Rs. 4701.56 for MPF, Nagaland received Rs 123.32 crore, Assam- Rs 268.9 cr, Meghalaya- Rs 44.57 cr, Arunachal- Rs 48.45 cr, Mizoram- Rs 45.65 cr, Manipur- Rs 112.83 cr and Tripura Rs 69.39 cr. The minister also informed the house that presently funds for modernization of State police forces are being provided under a Non-plan Scheme for MPF and not under any Eleventh Five year Plan Scheme.
