The Nagaland University Students’ Union SASRD, Medziphema campus has rejected the representation forwarded by dean, SAThe Nagaland University Students’ Union SASRD, Medziphema campus has rejected the representation forwarded by dean, SASRD, DP Sharma on various demands submitted to him by them on August 2.
The representation was faxed from Mokokchung on Thursday.
The dean who reportedly left the campus on August 3 without assigning his charge to any one during his absence, in the representation responded to all the 13 points demanded by the students. However, the students categorically rejected his representation stating that he should have been there in the campus to solve the issue with the students instead of absconding from the campus.
Regarding their first demand of proper and regular water supply through pipelines, which the dean had assigned the task to a class III employee, the students said it was “completely unacceptable.” They said such type of work needed at least a JE and above to mend.
Prof Sharma reportedly absconded from SASRD campus on August 3 after the students issued an ultimatum and the Medziphema Youth Organization sealed his office for failure to meet their demands.
The student community has termed the act of Prof Sharma as a “disgrace, indiscipline and failure on the part of the authorities to delve into the anomalies that has stalked into SASRD campus.” They said he cannot function as a dean without being present in the campus. The student body in a general meeting held on Thursday decided that Prof Sharma would not be considered as the dean of SASRD anymore.
The student body also demanded Prof Sharma to justify his appointment as the dean since his appointment was not according to the NU act, Gazettee of India.
Quit notice to dean
Accusing the dean of SASRD, Prof D. P. Sharma of indulging in “anti-Medziphema” activities, the Medziphema Village Youth Organsiation (MVYO) has asked him to leave Medziphema on or before 6 p.m of August 5 or “face consequences” which would be at his “own risk.”
MVYO president in a “quit notice” served to the dean said they were “utterly dismayed, humiliated and provoked” by the way he treated their leaders who “peacefully” went to meet him on August 2. The MVYO alleged that the dean, however, went all out to “disgrace” their very existence. “Your act of insanity in even dismissing our land donorship as nothing is strongly viewed,” it said.
The organization said that the dean, apart from past problems he had been acting in the university campus against their “genuine interest and indulging in anti-Medziphema activities,” had still dared to challenge their existence.
It reminded the dean that there was a long standing tradition of Medziphema village that whoever indulged in “anti-Medziphema” activities whether by deeds or words was not allowed to continue to reside in the area. Under such circumstance, the MVYO said it was issuing the quit notice to the dean.
