With tensions still running high in Kiphire over Pungro road show issue, the opposition Congress today attacked the NPF led DAN government, charging the latter of creating “tribal feud” with its road show in Pungro town “against the will of the people.”
In a press communiqué released Thursday, the CLP leader Tokheho Yepthomi said: “the brain child of the ‘road shows’ should be rightly called the ‘evil face’ of the NPF led DAN government.”
Claiming that the issue has drawn flake from all section of people because of the “evils associated with it,” the Congress leader said NBCC had made no secret of its resentment when it accused the promoters of freely throwing liquor at every road show.
Tokheho alleged that besides causing huge economic loss through lavish spending and adding to the deficit margin, the state government has finally ignited serious tribal flare that nearly resulted in physical confrontation and caused serious law and order problem in Kiphire and Pungro towns.
He said “volatile situation” in those towns has also caused a huge loss to public properties as roads were damaged and government vehicles destroyed by the mob.
“Had the DAN government heeded to the people’s voice, opposing the road show, huge economic loss on arrangement could have been avoided,” Tokheho said, adding that state government had dared to defy people’s “will” as it was prestige issue for present government.
Describing the state road shows as “cult-culture” and alien to Nagas, CLP leader said there are better ways to present and promote the culture.
There are hardly any good reason and justification to celebrate without any progress and development when Nagaland is reeling under huge deficit and the common men are suffering beyond measures, he said.
Further, he maintained that since the NPF led DAN government has no perspective plan for the people of Nagaland, it was busy organizing state road shows “to keep the fun loving people in good humour.”
CLP leader underlined that DAN government was answerable and accountable to the people for the colossal economic loss and for causing unnecessary tribal enmity.
