Kiphire town is limping back to normalcy following days of tension and some violent incidents after the USLB withdrew its volunteers from all strategic locations, in and around Kiphire town Friday. Kiphire-Pungro junction, the key location where the conflict occurred, was also brought under control by IRB and police personnel. District administration, police, GBs and DBs, which collectively tamed the volatile situation, are presently keeping a constant vigil so as to avoid further feud. Meanwhile, in a delayed report, one police constable – a radio operator in Kiphire DEF – August 5 was fatally injured on the neck, when he reportedly attempted to commit suicide with a sharp object. The incident took place after he discharged his normal duty. The constable, whose condition was stated to be serious, has been referred for further medical treatment.
