DNSU clampdown on students

Altogether 26 students including one female were caught by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) for drinking alcohol and roaming around in uniform during class hours from Super Market area on Friday. Some were caught roaming in casual dresses after keeping their bags and uniforms in shops.
DNSU office bearers said some of the students in uniforms were caught drinking in some local booze joints.
DNSU president Medo said parents should be aware of where their children goes while teachers should also be vigilant in order to prevent such cases. The union also warned all the shopkeepers not to allow students to keep their uniform and bags in their shops.
Areas visited by the DNSU included Super Market, Dhobinala, DC court area, Firing Range, Notun Bosti, Duncan Bosti, Lingirjan and other luxurious restaurants.
DNSU general secretary, Mhachio said it would be conducting similar surprise checking from time to time. He said the DNSU was also worried about “underaged youngsters” getting used to disco culture and added it working out modalities to tackle the issue.
