Mokokchung traders sensitized on taxes

A seminar on VAT administration was held here today at Longkumer Kilem jointly organized by taxes department Mokokchung and Mokokchung chamber of commerce and industries.
The seminar was a much needed one especially for business community of Mokokchung as the people needed more education in this field. Resource persons for the seminar were K. Chuba, additional commissioner of taxes and Wochamo Odyuo, Supdt. of taxes, Mobile Squad. K. Chuba of taxes explained about importance of paying taxes to the government so that there was more development in the state.
He called upon the people especially traders to participate in the process of development. Resource person Wochamo Odyuo, Supdt. Of Taxes, Mobile Squad, Nagaland gave a detailed explanation through power point presentation about Nagaland VAT rules.
Earlier in the program, DC Mokokchung Lithrongla G. Chishi gave a brief exhortation to the gathering wherein she called for greater awareness about taxes. Acknowledging the efforts of MCCI and taxes department for conducting such seminars, she called for imbibing greater awareness to the masses. She also said majority of Naga people do not realize importance of paying taxes as Nagas were not tax payee. She also suggested the department that extra efforts were needed to sensitize the people on this subject and also appealed to all to pay taxes on time and pay judiciously.
