Heno inspect landslide areas in Tuensang

: Upon the plea by the public, parliamentary secretary for fisheries, relief & rehabilitation, printing & stationary Nagaland and chairman DPDB Tuensang, S. Heno with DC Tuensang Y.L. Jami on Friday visited the site where major landslide occurred at NST sector Tuensang.
While visiting at the site, S. Heno said the damaged site could not be constructed or repaired under LADP fund as it required central sponsored scheme through nodal department.
However, Heno assured to the sector for all possible help at the crucial juncture and called upon the people to cooperate with each other for the common benefit of the society. DC Y.L. Jami also said affected areas would require cores of rupees and would be possible only under central sponsored scheme adding, the matter would be initiated at DPDB.
A major landslide has affected the several buildings both NST departmental quarters and private building by sinking and mud sliding in the areas. It was also reportedly that, NST Sector in Tuensang town was one of the unstable and most vulnerable soils for sinking and mud sliding especially during the rainy seasons where many private buildings and departmental quarters have been damaged by sinking the soil and mudslide.
Meanwhile, due to heavy torrential rainfall for the past five days in Tuensang, heavy landslide occurred at post office sector, which is in the heart of the town.
Altogether 5 residential building has been swept away affecting a total of 11 households and properties worth lakhs were lost. Five houses are also on the verge of being swept away.
