The joint team of state and central governments taking initiative to open dialogue with the United Naga Council (UNC) to end the impasse has regretted on not getting response by UNC. The team visited Senapati district headquarters yesterday but returned empty hand as no representative of UNC turned out to take part in the meeting.
While, expressing regret on UNC not responding to the request, a statement issued by the team reiterated that differences can be resolved through a healthy dialogue. Further, added that the presence of senior ministers of the state government and the joint secretary from the ministry of Home Affairs was an indication of importance being attached by both state and central government to open a dialogue with UNC.
The team also unanimously resolved to once again issue a joint appeal to the UNC to call off the economic blockade in the larger interest of all communities of Manipur stating that door was open for dialogue. Union Joint Secretary (Home), Navin Verma also assured to discuss the demands of the UNC and ANSAM in another high level meeting to be convened with the state government.
