With regard to awarding contract and supply works, Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has reminded all heads of departments in the state to follow government standing orders and award works only to its registered members.
A joint press statement issued by NCSU vice president Tseibou Khusoh and secretary Hoshito Assumi alleged that despite repeated memorandums to departments, some departments were still violating government standing orders by awarding contract and supply order to unregistered persons, both local and non-local.
It also alleged that the NCSU has found that government employees, in collaboration with bureaucrats and officers were involved with contract and supply works under fictitious names, which it said, violated government order and service rules. Stating that some departments were doing contract works “departmentally” depriving “genuine contractors” NCSU informed that union head office would detail its action committee to detect such cases and cautioned against officials practicing “table tender” for the purpose of “bribe and percentage basis.”
Union also cautioned contractors not to misuse registered numbers and pads by giving them to non-registered members, and cautioned that it would take its own course of action on erring department, officials and contractors.
