Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) has appealed to the government of India and Myanmar to work with joint venture and not joint operation in Eastern Naga areas situated in the north western part of Myanmar known as Saigan province.
ENSA in a press release issued by its president Michael Kaita said signing millions of dollar between government of India and Myanmar for joint operation against the Northeast insurgents was unacceptable because in the name of joint operation against the North East insurgency many civilians were harassed, tortured and killed and villages burnt down which was totally against the international human rights Vienna Conference of 1993.
The association however stated that it was not against such million dollars deal for counter terrorist but was against targeting the civilians in the name of joint operation. Association has appealed to the government of India that followers of non violent should approach directly towards Nagas of Myanmar for development by educating the people. It also stated that government of India should set up good institutions in every entry point for eastern Nagas and lift up restriction upon public movements in the border area instead of wasting million dollars for joint operation.
