Zekotso Mero, a 1987 NPS batch officer, formally took over as the new SP Dimapur on Wednesday from his predecessor Liremo Lotha, who will be taking over the command of 9th NAP (IR).
Interacting with media persons at SP office Dimapur, out going SP Liremo Lotha expressed his gratitude to the denizens of Dimapur, public leaders, NGOs and various other groups including his men for maintaining a cordial relation. He further expressed hope that the same cooperation and efforts will be extended to his successor also. When asked if there was any achievement which he could term it as a major feat, Liremo replied that no matter how big or small, an achievement was an achievement. He also added it was due to the joint efforts from various quarters that the situation of Dimapur slowly limped back to normalcy after the factional clashes. Terming the present situation of Dimapur as a congenial atmosphere, Liremo also averred that it should continue. It may be mentioned that outgoing SP Liremo was known for never switching off his mobile.
Z Mero , who is also the former SP of Kohima, affirmed that policing was not an individual but a team work and said that he cannot do anything without the help from his subordinates.
Pointing out that every individual was important, SP urged the people to provide quick information to police so that necessary actions could be taken by them. While admitting that nature of crime and crime rate was higher in Dimapur than in Kohima, Mero also said that he did not have any priority at present but would slowly take up things in a phased manner.
