Advocacy prog on HIV & AIDS

A one-day advocacy program on HIV and AIDS was conducted on Tuesday by Care & Support Society, Mokokchung at Ongpangkong Salang. The program was supported by Nagaland Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) and was held largely for the area people of 28 Koridang A/C.
The program was attended by representatives from various village councils, churches, political parties, youths, VDBs and so on. The program witnessed various speakers giving their views on “the role of stakeholders on HIV and AIDS”. Almost all the speakers suggested their view points in the fight against HIV and AIDS which was later followed by a discussion. The discussion was followed by formulation an action plan in the fight against HIV and AIDS. After a lengthy discussion, the decision was arrived at for enabling a suitable and conducive environment to be created so that there will be no stigma and discrimination and let the positive people come out and declare their status openly and without fear so that the objective is achieved.
Earlier in the program, scenario on HIV and AIDs was presented by Moatoshi, Counselor Mobile ICTC of Care & Support Society who gave detailed scenario of the present status of HIV and AIDS in the district. The program was followed by explanation of the various details of facilities available in the district for counseling as well as testing centres. L. Nokzen, former Minister who gave a brief exhortation to the gathering talked about the seriousness of HIV and AIDS. He called upon all to stand and fight the disease collectively before it becomes too late. Also Vikito Assumi from the LFA gave a brief introduction of how legislators in the state were contributing in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
