FGN to celebrate I-Day on Aug 14
Kohima: Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) Nagaland would celebrate 64th Independence Day on August 14 at 10 am at Mima Village, Angami Region. The Federal Government of Nagaland has invited all to participate in the occasion.
KLSU union assembly
DIMAPUR: The first union assembly of Kohima Lotha Students Union (KLSU) will be held on August 21 from 10.30 am at NSF conference hall. All affiliating units have been informed to attend the assembly along with a registration fee of Rs 100.
WSSU presidential meeting
DIMAPUR: Western Sumi Students Union has convened a presidential meeting on August 14 from 10 am at its union office, Thahekhu. All WSSU executives, unit president and representatives have been informed to attend the meeting without fail.
ENPO Peren unit meeting
DIMAPUR: Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO) Peren unit has convened a general meeting on August 14 at GBs Hall (Town Council office) near Rangkau complex from 3 pm. All members have been requested to attend the meeting.
HoD of Dimapur district informed
DIMAPUR: ADC Dimapur Sedevikho Khro informed all HoDs of Dimapur district to attend the Independence Day celebration. Attendance of all department officers and staff of Dimapur would be taken at 9 am on 15 August and handed over to SDO (C) Dimapur.
Seminar on career prospects
DIMAPUR: Sakus Mission College (SMC) career guidance and counseling cell would be organizing seminar on career prospect in the 21st century on August 31 at SMC auditorium (new campus), Landmark colony Dimapur. NPF president convenes meet
Dimapur: NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie has convened a meeting of the central office bearers, frontal presidents and general secretary, convener and member secretary of cells and all the division presidents to attend the meeting on August 25 at 11 am at the NPF Central office, Kohima.
USTSU 13th freshers’ meet
DIMAPUR: United Sangtam Theological Student’s Union (USTSU) would be conducting its 13th fresher’s meet on August 28 at the residence of its treasurer in PWD colony, Dimapur at 10am with BDO, Niuland, Kashio as chief guest.
GSU meeting
Kohima: Executive meeting of Ghokimi Students Union (GSU) has been convened on August 14 at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Pukhase Swu, Head Teacher, GMS Daklane Kohima at Lower Agri Colony. GSU has informed planning board, finance board, editorial board, cultural board, publicity committee all its convener and members, teaching staff of Ghokimi Primary School, village chairman, GBs advisors and chairman Village Education Committee to attend the meeting. The GSU also mourned the demise of Sukhalu Swu, ex GB of Ghokhimi village and acknowledged his works to the union, church, village council and society.
Submission of articles
DIMAPUR: Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) souvenir committee has informed that the last date of submission of articles for the souvenir of the forthcoming silver jubilee is August 13 and that further delay shall not be entertained. This has been informed in a press release issued by Melusayi Rhakho, president CSUKCK.
DYSU to felicitate students
DIMPAUR: Dimapur Kyong Students’ Union (DYSU) has informed all students who secured 1st division and above to submit photo copy of their mark sheet and admit card for felicitation 2010 to its educational and statistical secretary Shanchothung Odyuo on or before first week of September. Union also informed all bonafide members to submit latest statistical report and yearly membership 2010. All higher secondary schools and colleges have been informed to submit names for Mr. and Miss freshers’.
IGNOU entrance test
DIMAPUR: Entrance Tests for admission into the Management Programme (Openmat-xxviii) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme of the Indira Gandhi National Open University scheduled on August 22, has been postponed. According to Dr. T. Iralu, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre-20, Kohima, the entrance test for both the programmes would now be conducted on September 26 (Sunday). The regional director further informed that B. Ed. aspirants, who have secured 50% and 45% marks for general and reserved category respectively, either in graduation or post graduation with in service teaching experience of two years, can apply till August 24.
Interview for PMEGP under DIC Longleng
DIMAPUR: DIC Longleng informed all the PMEGP beneficiaries 2010-11 that the interview will be held on August 18 from 9. 30 am at DC’s conference hall. Further all beneficiaries have been informed to submit original documents at the interview.
Gandhian Natwar Thakkar lauded
DIMAPUR: Chuchuyimlang Senso Mungdang lauded and expressed gratitude to noted Gandhian and social worker Natwar Thakkar for initiating in setting up the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Social Sciences at village under the aegis of IGNOU. It may be mentioned that Natwar Thakkar is also the founder secretary of Nagaland Gandhi Ashram.
NA&HSSA annual membership fee
DIMAPUR: Nagaland Agriculture and Horticulture Subordinate Service Association (NA&HSSA) general secretary, M. Alem Jamir has informed all district unit president and sub-divisional action committee members to collect the annual membership dues for the year 2010-11 and submit to the finance secretary cum treasurer by the first week of September.
ASUK membership drive
Dimapur: Ao Students’ Union Kohima (ASUK) has informed all affiliated units to submit their membership for the year 2010 to the union finance secretary, Repa Ozüküm (9774930372) on or before August 30.
WSSU golden jubilee committee meet
Dimapur: Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU) in its executive council and advisory board meeting on August 10, has set up committees for WSSU golden jubilee celebration 2011, December. The six committees is headed by, Tokuho Neho as convener-planning board, Mughato Chophy as co-convener-planning board, Shikaho Zhimo as convener-finance committee, Phushika Awomi as convener-programme/publicity, Zutovi Aye as convener-art and culture, Shikahoto Zhimo as convener-reception and Lhotehe Aye as editor.
Home department clarifies
DIMAPUR: With reference to a news item that appeared under the caption ‘VIPs to address Independence Day at different places’ on August 11 issue of Naga News, Home department clarified that Kipili Sangtam, MLA, NSMDC would unfurl the National Flag at Kiphire and R. Tohanba, Parliamentary Secretary for IPR & Economics & Statistics would unfurl the National Flag at Aghunato and not as mentioned earlier.
Women empowerment training in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR: Three-day training on women empowerment through self-help group under SGY started on August 10 at Cultural Hall Zunheboto. Project Director DRDA Zunheboto, Asangla T. Aier while speaking at the programme said no society could progress without the participation of women. Stating that first teacher for a child was the mother Asangla called upon participants to be sincere and learn thoroughly and impart the knowledge to the child and upcoming generations. Around 200 participants within the district are attending the training. Resource persons include Imlimenla Longkumer and Adino Vitso from SIRD.
Essay competition in Tuensang
DIMAPUR: District education officer (DEO) Tuensang has informed that essay competition on “bamboo for community and livelihood” in 750 words would be conducted on August 24 at GHSS Tuensang. Interested high school students of both government and private schools have been requested to submit their names to DEO office Tuensang on or before August 20. DEO also informed that cash awards would be given to the top three best essays. Meanwhile, district level science seminar on “India and world science, are we there” would be held on August 31 at GHSS Tuensang. Names of participants have been requested to be submitted by August 25.
CSU condemns killing
DIMAPUR: Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has expressed shock over the killing of Bedungoi Lea from Tsiipfiime village, under Phek district at the heart of Pfutsero Town on August 3 by some unknown miscreants. The union strongly condemned such heinous and barbaric act. Expressing resentment, the union expressed that when the entire Nagas’ reconciliation and peace was at the vogue, such incident could never bring a solution. The union also appealed all the citizens to condemn such an act and the authority to nab the culprit at the earliest and to award befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
PGC freshers’ social
DIMAPUR: Phek Government College (PGC) held its 29th freshers’ social meet on August 6 with DC Phek, Mikha Lomi as chief guest. The programme included various presentations of songs and speeches by students and college principal, Dr. Toshiba Echa. Economics department lecturer Medo and political science lecturer K. Rose compered the function. Meanwhile, Pei Kezo and Khroketu-u K. Tara were crowned as freshers’ king and queen 2010 respectively.
TLBA youth department prayer tour
DIMAPUR: The youth department of Tuli Lenden Baptist Arogo (TLBA) conducted a prayer tour on the theme ‘Prayer conquest’ on July 24 last. Meanwhile, the youth department also expressed their gratitude to Baptist Churches of Luyong, Tuli town, Aitlenden and Tzudikong, Grace home and narcotic anonymous group.
DDK Kohima informs
Kohima: Doordarshan Kohima (DDK) informed that local programmes of DDK, Kohima would be up-linked to satellite and released by all High Power Transferred (HPTs) and Low Power Transferred (LTPs) located in the state of Nagaland with effect from August 15. This would enable viewers of the state of Nagaland to view local programmes transmitted from Doordarshan Kohima.
‘Medemneo’ celebrated in Shillong, Shamator
DIMAPUR: The Yimchunger students of Shillong celebrated the Medemneo festival at St. Edmunds on August 8 with members from Eastern Naga Fellowship Shillong also attending the celebration. Meanwhile, Hornbill Youth hosted Metemneo fiesta on August 7 at Mongtsuwong Campus, Shamator under the theme “Get together, grow together”. Various games and sports competitions including, badminton, tug of war, throw ball, chance games marked the occasion where cash prizes were awarded to the winners. The event was co-sponsored by NYK, Tuensang.
Zbto area VDB, VCC laud Dr. Nihoshe
Dimapur: VDB Secretaries’ Association and Village Council Chairmen of Zunheboto area have expressed gratitude to Dr. K.C. Nihoshe, parliamentary secretary, industries and commerce for enabling them to go on educational tour. The Area VDB association lauded Dr. Nihoshe for encouraging them as well as meeting all the financial needs for the tour and Besides for providing financial help for building construction project at Zunheboto.
Voluntary blood donation camp at BCK
DIMAPUR: Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland state branch (IRCSN) in collaboration with NSBTC and NHAK blood bank conducted a voluntary blood donation camp at Baptist College Kohima on August 7. IRCSN APO Lucy Merry and Dr. Kotso highlighted on blood donation.Eight students donated blood.
NPSC clarifies
DIMAPUR: With reference to the notification NO.NPSC/C-11/2010, dated August 5, NPSC clarified that candidates bearing roll numbers 1378 and 1380 for Post Graduate Teacher in Hindi are called for direct interview and not as published earlier.
