An alleged rape victim today expressed “deepest anguish” over the “erroneous and mischievous” claims by Jakhama Kuda Union (JKU), Dimapur that alleged rape committed by Thepfuzouto Angami of Jakhama village on August 4 in Chumukedima was consensual.
In a press rejoinder to JKU, the alleged victim said that clarification by Jakhama Kuda union explained less and attempted to mislead the general reader with “totally false information and facts.”
Asserting that the union did not even try to ascertain the “true nature and facts” of the case, she said that the accused was never known to her personally earlier.
“I further question the JKU as to whether ‘rape’ to them is an act condemnable or do they condone the act of rape,” she asked.
Also, querying if they (JKU) stood for dishonouring the modesty and honour of innocent and helpless girls like her, she asked: “will the JKU publish the same clarification note that they have if their own sisters faced the same fate that I have?”
The alleged victim further maintained that today she and her relatives were living under the constant fear for their safety and well being. “I only seek justice for the heinous and barbaric crime committed against me because it is me who has lost ‘honour’and not them,” she remarked.
The Jakhama Kuda union August 11 had claimed that alleged rape incident was a “consented sexual activity” and that there was no “conspiracy, intimidation, threat or force”. It had also appealed to the public and authority to differentiate “rape” and “love affair” and provide justice accordingly.
