ATAN member’s contribution
DIMAPUR: The ATAN members inclusive of all the district units who are yet to submit their contribution of Rs. 300 per person have been informed to submit the same on August 20 and 21 at ISBT, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur from 10am to 2pm. The names of those who contributed would be utilized in the further steps taken by the association as resolved in the last general meeting, added the ATAN.
Science seminar 2010
DIMAPUR: District level science seminar 2010, under the topic “India and World Science; Are we there?” would be held on August 30, 10am at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School auditorium. All the schools have been requested to send participants and teacher guide along with three students to attend the seminar.
Renewal Energy Day
DIMAPUR: Along with the rest of the country the department of New and Renewable Energy (NREDA) Nagaland Kohima will be celebrating Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas-Renewal Energy Day in commemoration of the birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India on August 20. The day would be marked with ‘renewable energy run’ at 7.10 a.m from Badminton Stadium to Kohima local ground followed by Essay and Painting competition on New and Renewable Energy for different categories to be held at the Zonal Council Hall, Kohima.
ARSU editorial board
DIMAPUR: Atoizu Range Students’ Union (ARSU) in its executive meeting held on July 31 selected the following persons in the editorial board for the publication of its biennial magazine: Hoshito (Treasury Officer Peren), Yevito (DIET Principal Tuensang), Avito (L.D.A KPA Asukhuto), Sawoto (Ex- President ARSU) and Amento (Magazine secretary; Ex-officio member ARSU). Also in view of the vacancy that arose due to the demise of Late Huvito Kikhu vice president ARSU, the executives appointed Atokali Chishi assistant women coordinator as the new VP of ARSU. Meanwhile, the ARSU has requested all the editorial board members to attend a meeting at the residence of Hoshito (T.O Peren) at Chekiye, Dimapur on August 21.
Dr. Shürhozelie launches weekly bazaar
DIMAPUR: Minister for urban development and higher education, Dr. Shürhozelie on Monday under the aegis of Watsu Mungdang launched weekly Bazaar to facilitate sale of Self Help Group products. According to an official bulletin, the Bazaar would be open at Imlong place every Wednesday from 8 am where fruits, vegetable, handicraft and other local products would be available.
WYH executive meeting
DIMAPUR: Western Yimchunger Hoho (WYH) has convened its executive meeting on August 21 at the Hoho treasurer’s residence at old Showuba village, Dimapur at 10am. All office bearers, executive members and members of WYH have been requested to attend the meet.
Dimapur Sahitya Sabha elects new office bearers
DIMAPUR: The Dimapur Sahitya Sabha (DSS) has elected a new team of office bearers during its general body meeting held on August 12. The team would be led by Ram Sakal Paswan as president, Deep Borkotoky, vice president, Kanteswar Kalita, secretary, Mukuta Mech and Arup Borgohain, joint secretaries, Biswanath Sharma and Dr. Chandan Rajkhowa respectively as advisors.
NSCN (IM) UT -1 recovers stolen bike
DIMAPUR: The UT-1 of NSCN (IM) recovered a Yamaha motor bike which was reportedly stolen on August 14 and later handed over to its owner. Meanwhile, owner of the bike Mani Debbarma expressed his gratitude to UT-1 under the supervision of Honoto Sumi for recovering the bike.
TKSKK condemns murder
DIMAPUR: Tuensang and Kiphire Sumi Kuqhakulu Kohima (TKSKK) has condemned the “brutal torture and merciless murder” of Ameto Awomi by NNC cadres. A press statement issued by TKSKK chairman, Nitokhu Sumi stated that no amount of “highest reason” could justify such act, and appealed to the authorities to book the culprits and award befitting punishment. Meanwhile, TKSKK has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family of late Ameto and further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
CFNBC launches fall semester
Dimapur: Christ for the Nations Bible College (CFNBC) launched its Fall Semester with a Revival Week with dynamic speakers: Razouneizo Chalie, youth director CRC Medziphema; Avikato Sumi, academic dean, Faith Theological Seminary; Neizavilie Chalie, academic dean, Asian Mission College. The culminated with Alo Wanth (Christian singer/songwriter/musician) week long workshop on Biblical Praise & Worship followed by a session with an inspiring worship team from Ministry of Mission Management (MMM).
USR/NSCN condoles
Dimapur: The United Sangtam Region NSCN (K) has mourned the untimely demise of late Tsasethri Sangtam Leacy son of Tsipithong of Seyochung Village under Kiphire District on August 13. The USR/NSCN in a condolence message by capt. rtd. K. Yangseba Sangtam said that late Tsasethri joined the organization in 1993 and had served with dedication and sincerity for the welfare of the region.
Miss Wokha 2010 contest
Dimapur: Miss Wokha contest organized by the Eleganz and Aesthetic society will be held on October 16 at 5 pm at Town hall. The contest will be held under the theme, “Beauty with a purpose with added tests of intelligences and personality”. All interested candidates may collect the forms from SMF Tsumang, Cenadio restaurant Tsumang.
