Responding to a news item which appeared in a local daily on July 24 under the caption “YHS, YTSU reiterates on Longleng-Ladigarh NEC highway”, Hi Tech Construction (HTC) general manager, N. R. Zeliang has issued a rejoinder by making a five point clarification on the issue. N. R. Zeliang clarified that natural calamity like continuous rain/flood has disturbed the execution of work; labour problem/machineries being off the road due to non-availability of major spare parts within Nagaland; that widening of road according to estimate was hampered in some portions due to disturbances by landowners, where some cases were solved and some still pending; cutting of new road above NEC road was also a major cause of landslides and continuous slips of cutting earth on NEC road; that carriage width measured 3.75 meters as per estimate and work order, and as width of road measuring 10 to 12 feet was lying within rocky area, cutting was in progress.
HTC general manager while appreciating the concern shown by student bodies said HTC contractors were striving for early execution of work and appealed to public to co-operate for successful completion of the work.
