Rio to inaugurate SBI new premises
KOHIMA: The new bank premises of State Bank of India (SBI), Kohima Bazar Branch (PR Hill Kohima) will be inaugurated on July 29, 11 am by state chief minister Neiphiu Rio in presence of RK Garg, Chief General Manager, SBI Local Head Office (NEC), Guwahati.
Government notifies
DIMAPUR: State Government has announced to exempt all taxable sports goods sold by M/s Premier Brands Pvt. Ltd, the officials’ license to Common Wealth Games Delhi 2010, from Value Added Tax in Nagaland under the following terms and conditions: sales effected from ‘Mobile Sales Van’ accompanying ‘Queen’s Baton Relay’ at the time of its passing through the state of Nagaland and sale effecting through ‘Common Wealth Games Express’ of Indian Railway through the special Sale Counter of M/s Premies Brands Pvt. Ltd. The exemption shall come into effect from the date of issue of this notification.
Re-evaluation forms for degree students
DIMAPUR: Assistant registrar (examinations), NU, Otova Swu has informed that re-evaluation forms for the under-graduate examination 2010 of BA/B.Sc./B.Com would be issued and received at Nagaland University Residential Campus, SETAM, PWD Colony, Dimapur. Last date of receipts of application forms for B.Com would be August 10, B.Sc on August 10 and B.A on August 31.
Three students to receive N.I Jamir award
DIMAPUR: 4th N.I Jamir academic excellence award felicitations ceremony organised by Kohima Ongpangkong Tzukong Union will be held at the residence of union Treasure (Agri Colony) Kohima on July 31, 10 a.m, with Parliamentary Secretary for PWD (Housing) Labour & Employment, Er. T. Saku Aier as the chief guest and Editor ‘Tir Yim Yim’, K. Temjen Jamir as the main speaker. The three students Lipokienla Jamir, Lanuakum Pongen and Imtiakum Jamir who passed in the top positions during the last Nagaland Board Examination will receive N.I. Jamir Academic excellence award.
Naknyu Lüm festival celebration
DIMAPUR: Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU), Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS), Chang Baptist Lashong Thangnyen (CBLT), Chang Officers’ Association (COA) and Chang DBs and GBs union will be celebrating Naknyu Lüm, the festival of Changs celebrated to mark victory over darkness, from July 29-31 at CKS hall, Tuensang.
Mon DPDB meet
DIMAPUR: Mon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) has convened a special board meeting on August 4, 11am at the conference hall of DC Mon to discuss finalization and recommendation of schemes/projects under LADP 2010-11. All board members and elected representatives of Mon district have been requested to attend the meeting.
ZSUN emergency
DIMAPUR: Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has convened a presidential council meeting on July 28, 11am at town hall, Peren. All units, advisors and senior leaders of the union have been requested to attend the meeting.
RSU assembly
DIMAPUR: The 2nd union assembly of Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) would be held on July 31, 11am at union headquarter, Tseminyu town. All unit and subordinate presidents, representatives, tribunals and seniors have been requested to attend the assembly.
GSU freshers’ day
DIMAPUR: Gorkha Students’ Union (GSU) Kohima would be organizing 18th joint Gorkha freshers’ day on July 31, 1.30pm at Gorkha public panchayat hall, Chandmari Kohima. Students of class-11 and above, elders and well wishers have been requested to attend the programme. Union also informed that it would felicitate all HSLC toppers and requested the toppers to attend the programme as well.
Physical verification of pensioners at Wokha
DIMAPUR: Physical verification of pensioners drawing pension from treasury office Wokha would be conducted from August 11-12. Sub-treasury officer Wokha has requested all life and family pensioners to report to treasury office Wokha on the above mentioned days during office hours.
KSSU membership card distribution
DIMAPUR: Kohima Sumi Students’ Union (KSSU) has informed all Sumi students of class-V and above studying under Kohima jurisdiction to collect annual membership card on or before August 20. It also informed all meritorious students of the last class-10, 12 and degree examinations who secured 60% aggregate and above to submit photo copy of marksheet to KSSU executive members before August 20.

DIMAPUR: Longmatra area student union (LASU) has convened an emergency meeting on July 31, 10 am at Longmatra town. All pioneers, gazetted officers, GBs, DBs, VCCs and unit presidents have been requested to attend the meeting.

DIMAPUR: Baptist youth fellowship Dimapur (BYFD) has invited all the youth directors of all the Baptist churches of Dimapur for a prayer fellowship on July 29, 5p.m at Lotha Baptist church Dimapur.

DIMAPUR: Tenyimi student union Dimapur (TSUD) has convened a union assembly on July 31, 3 pm at Tenyimi union Dimapur (TUD) complex. All unit presidents, secretaries and senior leaders have been requested to attend the session.
KSU Platinum jubilee meeting
DIMAPUR: Meeting of Kyong Students Union (KSU) platinum jubilee steering committee has been convened on July 29, 11 a,m at LTC hall Wokha. Committee members have been informed to attend the meeting.
ATAN general meeting
DIMAPUR: The Aggrieved Teachers’ Association of Nagaland (ATAN) has convened a general meeting on July 30 at ISBT, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur from 10am onwards. Members from all the districts have been requested to attend the meeting.
Plea to ban proxy teachers
TUENSANG: Coordinator EBRC Shamator has appealed to all head teachers and VEC Chairman under EBRC to ban proxy teachers. The coordinator James Tokiu in a press statement said a teacher could never truly teach unless he/she was well equipet as it was where the destiny of the pupil were shaped in the class room.
Stating that education was the biggest developmental investment for the children, coordinator lamented that due to negligence of teaching staff the standard of education imparted to the students have slowed down comparatively and was a matter of concern.
Heavy downpour cause landslide in WA
Kohima: Heavy downpour on Monday reportedly cut off several roads in Western Angami region. Mezoma Village Council Chairman Rovi Kuotsu stated that heavy downpour on Monday after Queens’ Baton rally crossed the area several mud slide in some pockets had cut off road connectivity to the village. Mudslide reportedly cut off particularly the road connectivity from Hydro project to Mezoma village and also damaged several irrigation channels and footpaths. Moreover, several paddy fields in some places were damaged due to sudden heavy downpour, he added.
