LCC condemns Anatongre accident

The Longsa Catholic Church (LCC) under Wokha district has strongly condemned the July 9 incident wherein the Catholic Church at Anatongre village was reportedly pulled down by the Baptist community of Anatongre village.
LCC convener, Dominic Khothungo expressed that the Anatongre village resolutions to impose fines, restriction on practice of other faith, other than that of the Baptist Church, expulsion from the village was a direct violation of the constitutionals rights to religion and against the ideology and belief of Naga society, where every citizens has the right to practice any religion of his own choice.
LCC added that as Christian society, Nagas should re-examine whether true Christian citizens were living in a Christian state.
Further reacting to the article on July 24 in a local daily by one Asselee Krose, NPBCA Chumukidema, who compared the issue with the village resolution and difference in context of Anatongre area and Kohima zone, the LCC questioned the practicable aspect of the article and understanding of the fundamental teaching of Christianity
