Clarifying to the news item on “plight of teachers at GHSS Noklak” published in a local daily, the Post Graduate Teachers (contract) under GHSS Noklak said out of the total 7 post graduate teachers posted at Noklak, 6 teachers were working on contract basis.
PGT (contract) in a press statement by one of its member, T. Chubanungsang claimed that the service or contract of the mentioned “contract teachers” expired on May 17 and 31, June 9 and 22 respectively. However, their contact was renewed and the order was released on July 6 and as such it was not possible to be present on the opening day i.e. July 8, the release stated.
In regard, to absences of English and Education teacher as pointed out by KSU, the PGT (contract) said that it had already brought to the notice of the authority and also to the students’ community that at present the school was functioning with only one English teacher instead of three.
Moreover, it stated that there was no teacher for education subject and was impossible to fill up the classes for the vacant teachers.
Earlier, Khiamnuingam Students Union (KSU) in its appeal to the department of school education has warned that it would close down the school and initiate agitation if action was not taken against the irregular teachers.
