NSAMB clarifies on marketing

Reacting to the allegation leveled by Wokha village passion fruit growers committee against Agriculture Marketing Produce Committee (AMPC)for problem of marketing passion fruits, Nagaland State Agricultural Marketing Board (NSAMB) has issued rejoinder stating that arrangement for market outlet were assessed by the AMPC Wokha every year before the passion fruit season starts.
NSAMB secretary C. Mozhui clarified that total production expected from Wokha village for the current year was about 80 MT only however, as stated by the chairman of Wokha village passion fruit growers, the total production of passion fruit at Wokha village was 1000 MT, secretary questioned as to how Wokha village alone could produce 1000 MT when the peak season for passion fruit harvest was in the month of July and August. At present hardly 6-7 MT per week could be collected from Wokha village area, the secretary added.
NSAMB further added that due to law and order situation at Mao gate, all factory workers had left leaving the factory non-operational. However, AMPC Wokha made arrangement with the exotic fruits and vegetables processing plant Dimapur and supplied some quantities but was stopped by the firm adding it was well informed to the passion fruit growers committee.
The secretary has urged Wokha village passion fruit growers committee and other entrepreneurs to refrain from issuing false allegations without ascertaining the facts and implication.
