Training on institutional safety held at ATI

  A training programme on institutional safety was conducted by Disaster Management Cell, ATI from July 26 to 29. The participants were EBRC TOTs from Kohima, Dimapur, Phek and Wokha districts. The training covered various topics on basics of disaster management, disaster profile of Nagaland, earthquakes, landslides, basics of first aid and mock drill both theory as well as practical.
The participants were also enlightened on different mapping required for an institutional safety plan especially resource, hazard, vulnerability and evacuation maps. Draft School Disaster Management Plans for Government Schools of the four districts were prepared by the participants during the course of the training.
Joint director, School Education, V. Meyase, exhorted the participants in the valedictory function. He mentioned that making the right decision during any emergent situation was the required quality of an efficient disaster manager. He also encouraged the participants to disseminate the knowledge gained from the training in their respective areas of work. Voluntary speech was presented by the participants. The function was chaired by Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu, state coordinator, Disaster Management Cell, ATI.
Resource persons for the programme included Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu, state coordinator, Disaster Management Cell, ATI, Dr. Imtiwapang Aier, landslide expert and Er. N. Moa longkumer, associate professor, DM Cell ATI.
