Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) has clarified to the news article written by one PG (contract) teacher posted at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Noklak stating the ‘clarification’ that expiry of contract period being the reason was “not valid but to cover up their absence and misdoings”.
KSU stated that the union after visiting the school on several occasions found most of the teachers absent on one pretext or the other.
KSU viewed that absenteeism of teachers and the practice of entering proxy report in the attendance register were very serious, while shortage of teachers was the concern of the government.
Therefore, KSU in the interest of the students urged all teachers posted at Noklak GHSS to perform their assigned duty adding that the union would be forced to initiate punitive measures as deemed fit, if they failed to do so.
