3 students conferred N.I. Jamir award

The 4th N.I. Jamir Academic Excellence Award for HSLC toppers organised by Kohima Ongpangkong Tzukong Telongjem (KOTT) was held today at the residence of KOTT treasurer at Agri colony.
All together three students Imtiakum Jamir (Longmisa) from Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur (5th position), Lipokienla Jamir (Longsa) from Fernwood School Kohima, 9th position and Lanuakum Pongen (Longmisa) from Assisi School Dimapur (19th position) were awarded. They received a cash amount of Rs 10,000 each along with certificates.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Er. Saku Aier, parliamentary secretary, PWD (Housing) and Labour & Employment congratulated all the toppers for bringing laurels to the community and wish them bright future in the days to come.
He said N.I. Jamir was one of the pioneer leaders among the Ao community who lead the Naga people in educating them. His concern and contribution for the people of Nagaland brought many laurels and called upon the younger generation to follow the path of our leader who had contributed much for the people of Nagaland and become a role model like him.
Delivering his speech as a main speaker on the occasion, K Temjen Jamir, Editor, Tir Yimyim said that in today’s world success could be reached and achieved by everyone but the most important thing was one have to be the best among the successful ones. In ones life success comes on the way but if one cannot bring changes in the society after achieving success, it will be useless, “we must make ourselves a useful life rather than seeking for comfortable life”, he said.
He also lauded NI Jamir and family for initiating the excellence award for the best successful students not only within Ao community but also in eastern Nagaland.
Earlier, Tialiba, Board of Trustees gave a short speech while Merentoshi the eldest grandson of Kt.N.I.Jamir spoke on behalf of NI Jamir family members.
