Landslides in Merhulietsa colony

Incessant rain in the state capital has caused landslides in Merhulietsa colony. One such glaring case of landslide occurred in Merhulietsa colony were a house belonging to S. Imli Ao, a cooperative bank employee, built in 2004 with an estimate cost to Rs.25 lakhs was fully damaged and needed major repair and renovation.
The cause of the damaged is mainly due to the lack of proper drainage and loose soil.
S. Imti Ao informed the in 2004 a landslide committee was formed and approached the then school minister and urban development minister for the construction of protection wall and drainage system , but yet till date no positive step was taken up. He also urged the government for immediate grant in aid for repair and renovation of the affected areas.
Meanwhile Dr. Nicky Kire also recently had visited the affected areas in the colony. (Correspondent)
