Zbto farmers trained on vermiculture, soil testing

Altogether 25 farmers from ten selected villages, under Zunheboto district, attended a two-day training programme on integrated land development project (RIDF-XV), under NABARD negotiated loan programme, at Zunheboto district soil conservation office August 19 and 20.
The training programme, organized by district soil conservation office (DSCO) and sponsored by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), was aimed to equip the farmers about vermicomposting and soil survey and testing, the district soil conservation officer (DSCO) and ATMA project director Zunheboto, Zhekheto Awomi stated in a press release.
The technical session, which was led by DSCO and ATMA Zunheboto project director Zhekheto Awomi along with other technical staffs touched upon several topics related to the subject.
While, soil conservation assistant (SCA) Khutovi enlightened the farmers on land development and bench terracing technique in selected villages, the sectional officer and block technology team convenor, Zunheboto block informed on construction method of water harvesting pond with stone patching.
SCA Hotoshe gave a presentation on Vermi compost – role of earth worm in nutrients management for sustainable crop production and vermi culture – utilization of compost.
Meanwhile, the DSCO and ATMA Zunheboto project director Zhekheto Awomi deliberated on soil survey & testing; its importance for recommendation of manures and fertilizer doses with the demonstration of mini kit of soil testing equipment.
