KMC launches 2nd phase demo project

Launching of second phase of Kohima Municipal Demo Project on Solid Waste Management, sponsored by Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) and funded by Central Pollution Control Board under the Ministry of Environment, government of India was inaugurated by Dr. MLA & Chairman NKVIB Neikiesalie Kire at Kohima this morning from Chaü Parking Lot.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Kire lauded NPCB efforts in the project to state capital in 2005. As second phase demo project would be concentrating more on Bio-Medical Waste, he appealed to the public to inculcate civic sense and also request the local bodies to have more seminars and awareness campaign for solid waste especially in schools and Churches, citizens and to medical agencies to cooperate in managing hazardous wastes with local bodies as it had immense adverse impact on human and our environment.
Earlier, the function was chaired by Alun Hangsing, ADC-cum-Administrator KMC and key note address by Rüsovil John, Member Secretary NPCB. He highlighted on brief history on Kohima Municipal Demo Project and its activities.
He also appeal both to KMC and the citizens to used the machineries and facilities for the betterment in improving the conditions of management garbage’s in Kohima City. Short speeches were also delivered by Beiu Angami,DC Kohima, Kuolachalie Seyie Advisor KMC and Dr. Toshimanen Ao Jt.Director (ULB) Cell ,Urban Development.
