4 killed in road mishap

A Tata Sumo, carrying passengers from Longwa village to Mon town fell into a stiff valley Thursday morning, killing four on the spot and injuring three. The accident occurred between Longwa village and Phomching town at around 8.15 a.m. Out of the four deceased, it was learnt that one was from Longwa village and the other three from Eastern Konyak ( Myanmar). The injured, who were also Eastern Konyaks, were taken to the hospital with the help of Assam Rifles personnel posted at Longwa village. They have been admitted to Mon civil hospital. Meanwhile, the cause of the accident could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, as the driver of the ill-fated vehicle was reportedly absconding.
