1 killed in factional clash

One person identified as ‘ss’ Khapur Zaremo Odyuo of GPRN/NSCN was killed by NSCN (I-M) cadres Thursday morning during a factional clash at Mekokla village under Wokha district.
Talking to Nagaland Post over the phone, SDPO Wokha N. Ngullie said the incident took place at around 4 a.m. on Thursday when a group of NSCN (I-M) men attacked GPRN/NSCN cadres who were camping at the village and injured ‘ss’ Khapur Zaremo Odyuo, who later succumbed to his injuries. He also informed that SDPO Bhandari, along with some personnel had rushed to the spot to assess the situation.
FNR, NSF appeals
Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has expressed sadness over Thursday’s Mekokla incident where one GPRN/NSCN cadre was killed by the rival group.
FNR said it was saddened yet again as “one of our own is no more with us today”. It appealed to all to restrain all forms of offensive activities, regardless of the reasons, as agreed upon by signatories of the “Covenant of Reconciliation”. It said “unease” and “being different” were byproducts of hate and bitterness. “Revengeful action” was not possible unless there was reconciliation” it added.
Meanwhile, NSF general secretary O. Wati Alem, appealed to authorities of all organizations for restrain and discipline their men against such “unpleasant situation”. It urged “national workers” to advocate the “covenant of reconciliation” by resolving their differences in “true spirit” and to step forward to strengthening the protracted Naga political issue.
