Heavy rain destroy crops
Kohima: Following heavy torrential rain the water from the streams of Hazathü and Yayilükwa at Weziho village which on culmination overflowed the water bed and destroyed vast area of terrace field on August 15. The flood water had destroyed vast portion of standing crops estimated to be worth about Rs 2 to 3 lakh. Wezihu Village Council Chairman Y.Sipichu stated in a release.

Oral test for history dept candidates
DIMAPUR: Head of department, History and Archaeology Nagaland University, Kohima campus, Meriema, Dr. N. Venuh has informed all candidates who have appeared written test in the department that the oral test would be conducted on August 30 and 31, 10 am in the department of History and Archaeology, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema. Interview for serial 1 to 40 would be held on August 30 and remaining on August 31.
Teachers’ Day token collection
DIMAPUR: GMS & GPS under the DIS, Dimapur have been informed to collect teachers’ day token and car flag from the office of the DIS Dimapur on or before August 31during office hours. The token would be issued according to students’ enrolment. DIS also informed that it was mandatory for all schools to collect tokens and failing which salary of the defaulting schools would be held up.
One held for possession of banned drugs
Dimapur: During a routine frisking led by SDPO Bhandari, one person identified as Peter Tsanglao was arrested for possession 90 boxes of banned drugs ‘Relipen’ tablets on August 18.
TPO to uphold tribal people’s right
DIMAPUR: Due to the inevitable responsibility towards tribal people in Manipur, an organization, titled as ‘Tribal People’s Organization’ has been formed to uphold the rights of the tribal people in Manipur, informed organisation president Joel Lorho. The organization has extended its solidarity and support towards the present movement for separate hill areas administration in Manipur state.
Medical camp in Chessore
DIMAPUR: A medical camp was conducted in Chessore on August 24 and 25. The medical team included Tuensang deputy CMO Dr. Thangoi Lam, medical officer Tuensang Dr. Roy assisted by Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) staff. Altogether 201 patients were treated and given free medicines. Meanwhile, village chairman and villagers expressed gratitude to the team for visiting and holding the camp despite deplorable road condition.
