For the regional taxi drivers, it is a blessing in disguise to make quick money when the nature had disrupted the smooth flow of traffic in between the state capital and commercial hub Dimapur of late. With traffic diversion through alternative routes, taxi drivers plying between Dimapur and Kohima are flexing additional charge of fares which is more than 50% hike. Earlier, the Taxi fare between the same route was Rs 130 which had shot up to Rs 200/- per head now.
One of the owner of the Taxi however revealed that no drivers brings and handover to the owners of the additional money they’ve earn by charging extra while the damage on the vehicles are increasing due to poor road condition on the alternative routes. We know how much they’re earning but it is an opportunity which does not come often so we just allow them also to earn a little extra, the owner added.
