NPCC Former President K V Pusa, MLA Pusa has appealed to state government to hasten the public works department which seemed not as much bothered about plight of people traveling on Jotsoma by-pass road and other roads between Kohima and Dimapur.
Jotsoma by-pass road may not be under PWD, but in time of difficulties department should not stay idle and unneeded, but should extend all possible help for smooth flow of traffic so that daily chores of people were not affected, Pusa said.
Pointing out that vehicles and passengers stranded on the way for more than four to five hours and for heavy vehicles even more than 24 hours were costing huge loss to the people and the state, Pusa said government should give priority to maintenance of Jotsoma by-pass road which has been serving the people in times of difficulties like the travelers are facing now.
Pusa also appealed to union governments to intervene for restoration of smooth flow of traffic on National Highway 39 which was the lifeline of not only for Nagaland, but Manipur state by sanctioning enough money for maintenance of NH 39, so as to mitigate the difficulties and problem of the people of Nagaland and Manipur.
He also opined that enough funds should also be sanctioned for maintenance of roads in Nagaland, by the Centre and concerned ministry like Surface Roads Transport to lessen difficulties of the people
Further, Pusa lauded efforts of Kohima district administration, Jotsoma village council and Jotsoma youth organisations for their tireless effort to restore normal traffic along Jotsoma by-pass road for the last one month, after massive landslide and sinking had disrupted National Highway 39 at Kohima Municipal Council dumping side.
He requested all those plying on Jotsoma by-pass road to cooperate with district administration and Jotsoma village authorities till normal traffic was restored on National Highway 39.
