Sovima, Sugar mill village resolve dispute

In a historic move towards upholding the spirit of Naga brotherhood and peace between two villages, Sovima village and Sugar Mill village reached to an agreement of permanently resolving age old village boundary dispute between the two villages.
Elders and leaders of the two villages at a meeting on August 27 held in presence of Councils of Model village (7th Mile) and Chumukedima village demarcated the village boundary of Sovima and Sugar Mill villages by erecting boundary pillars.
According to an agreement signed by Sovima Village Council Chairman, Neikhriehu Kense and Secretary, Jasahie Rupre-o and Sugar Mill Village Council Chairman, Nehoshe Chophy and Secretary, Kivigho Zhimomi, village council of both the villages held a joint meeting on June 26 at Sovima Council hall and arrived to a unanimous decision to solve the long pending boundary impasse.
MoU between the two villages stated Sovima village which was established in 1966 with permission of Chumukedima village, have accepted Sugar Mill village as “son village” so as to preserve Naga traditional values. A peace feast was hosted after the formal undertakings were completed on August 27.
