Nagaland government has responded that allegations over irregularities in procurement of food grains, under ICDS scheme, were without any substance, the union minister of state for women and child development (independent charge) Krishna Tirath today informed the Lok Sabha. Ms.Tirath said that under the integrated child development services (ICDS) scheme, the responsibility for procurement of food grains and management thereof rested with the states and UTs. “Thus, any complaint of corruption/irregularity, if received by the govt. of India, is referred to the concerned states/UTs for a report and appropriate action in the matter,” the minister said. She said that eight complaints were received, one each from Maharashtra, MP, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh and two each from UP and Bihar which contained allegations over irregularities in management of supplementary nutrition programme. “All these have been forwarded to the state governments for report,” she said, adding Nagaland government has responded that allegations made in the complaint were without any substance.
