District agriculture office Wokha in collaboration with ATMA Wokha conducted training on rodent campaign cum distribution and demonstration of application of various rodenticides at Lotha middle range under Baghty sub-division from August 19-21.
APPO and master trainer C. Peter Yanthan imparted technical aspects of rodent menace and demonstrated the application and effect of various types of rodenticides.
AO Lipamo Lotha spoke on precautionary measures to be adopted during the use of various rodenticides as some chemicals were hazardous to health. Farmers of five circles from Lotha middle range along with their respective field functionaries attended the training.
The team of agriculture officials also visited farmers’ fields to monitor and assess nature of damage caused by rats. They observed that 35% damage has occurred, where lower ridges were found to be affected more as compared to upper ridges.
Meanwhile, the team has apprised SDO (C) Sanis about the current situation on rodent damages in 19 villages of the area, and the latter assured the team of his cooperation for the welfare and benefit of the farming community of the area.
