Drawing attention to Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) allottees welfare committee’s opposition to deed prepared by DMC advisory committee, the DMC chief executive officer Nikhashe Sema Wednesday clarified that terms and conditions given in the earlier allotment should not be mixed up with the “deed of agreement”, saying by singing the deed of agreements the rights of tenants were not taken away.
Allottees Welfare Committee had on August 31 said they contested the new legal document as it superseded the agreement made during the tenure of the previous DMC.
“Even if DMC were to dismantle and re-construct a building, the existing tenants will be given priority as per the agreement,” said Nikhashe in a press release on Wednesday.
He also stated that, based on his directive, the advisors had issued a circular for execution of agreement with the allottees, and not a “notification” as claimed.
DMC chief executive officer also clarified that the meeting of its first advisory board had decided to designate the leader of advisory committee as chief advisor, adding no individual or organisation should question its functioning system.
The allottees on August 31 had raised an objection that government order, appointing advisors, did not contain any designation as “chief advisor” but only as advisors. They also claimed that present advisory committee did not have necessary powers to issue legal documents.
Meanwhile, the CEO added that he had already signed the deed of agreement as he was the right authority.
