After almost a week, the August 24 ‘molestation case’ of a female from Manipur in Connaught Place (CP), Delhi has cropped up with apprehensions.
On August 25, sources said the victim, Mary (name withheld) along with the students body went to CP police station to file an FIR but the police refused to accept her complaint application and to file an FIR. Only after a Member of Parliament from the Northeast intervened, the police registered a case of molestation under IPC 354 and IPC 323 for hurt.
Later, Mary was sent to RML Hospital for thorough medical examination. However, sources said the victim’s lawyer and her family were denied a copy of the medico-legal-case (MLC) report which was with the CP police. It was said that the student’s body also inquired the general manger of the restaurant, Manik Kapoor on the incident, but he refused to comment or discuss the matter. Mary was allegedly molested by the manager on August 24. “The three stitches and the scratches on my body are all proof of the manager’s advances and behavior towards me,” she told the cops in her two page complaint. The accused was still at large as police said recording of statements from witnesses were on.
