The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation has cautioned organizations, NGOs, groups or individuals to refrain from publishing unwarranted news items alleging any of the Eastern Nagaland legistalors or leaders without valid or genuine reasons. A press release issued by the president and general secretary of Eastern Naga Students Federation, Hawang T. Wangsha and Changsang Soted, stated that the ENSF would not remain mute spectators if eastern Nagaland legislators or leaders were threatened to step down from the position they hold or in case of false propaganda initiated against them. The federation added that it would be forced to take appropriate steps to counter balance the delicate set up of the society if such false allegations are charged to “under-estimate and demoralize the Eastern Nagaland legislators or leaders”.
While acknowledging Naga tribal bodies that mutually co-exist, the ENSF said that uncensored or provocative news statements in local dailies will go a long way on bringing disunity and mistrust amongst the Nagas.
