DMC, GBs fix labour wages

A co-ordination meeting with colony GBs and public leaders in regard to fixation of daily wages for labour in Dimapur was held at DMC Conference Hall on September 3.
The rates have been fixed in consultation with the department of labour. Rates are: 1st grade skilled- Rs. 200, 2nd grade skilled Rs. 170, semi skilled- Rs. 140 and unskilled- Rs. 120. The meeting was convened by Dimapur Municipal Council and addressed by Er. K. Keditsu, Chief Advisor DMC. Haizing Zeliang, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Dimapur, Imkongtemsu (retd. DC), Advisor DMC and S. Vihuto Yeptho, former member DMC were present at the meeting.
DMC advisor in-charge of market rate & quality control Atovi Zhimomi, chaired the meeting.
The meeting proposed the need of issuing labour identity card which could help the administration in keeping check on illegal immigrants who were mostly engaged as daily wage laborers.
