Weaving unit inaugurated in Settsu village

A weaving unit of Jenjangkong SHG under Settsu Village Mokokchung was inaugurated today by Director of Soil and Water Conservation and Project Director UNDP R.T Asang Jamir. The weaving unit is being implemented by sericulture department Mokokchung and sponsored by United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
UNDP is being implemented in the state under the theme “Environment and Sustainable Livelihood Activity” with the Soil and Water Conservation Department as the nodal agency. The program is being implemented on a trial basis in the state in three districts, viz. Mokokchung, Wokha and Mon.
Delivering his inaugural address, the director explained the activities undertaken through UNDP in the state. He said through UNDP, there was scope for up-gradation of the unit for which he called upon villagers to dedicatedly work and avail the opportunity.
The inaugural program was also attended by Thangamuthu, Project Coordinator UNDP Cell Kohima as guest of honour. The guest of honour also gave a brief speech on UNDP activity. The keynote address was delivered by Bendang Jamir, District Sericulture Officer.
