Perturbed by September 1 train incident at Jagi road, where Aleng Phom of Orangkong village bled to death allegedly due to negligence of railway authorities, the Phom students’ conference (PSC) and Orangkong students’ union (OSU) today condemned the railway authorities for not responding to the repeated call for help by victim’s cousin. The unions questioned as to why the chain did not work when it was pulled, and the ticket collector, who was in the AC compartment, did not respond when the victim’s cousin knocked and kicked the door several times. Stating that negligence on the part of railway authority was not the first time, PSC president Manlang Phom and President, OSU Eliakum Phom, in a press release, said they would fight till justice delivered. “Had there been timely intervention, the victim could have been saved who died due to massive bleeding,” they said. Meanwhile, the unions have conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members of late Aleng Phom and prayed that Almighty God grant strength and solace to the loved ones.
