Kisan mobile advisory service launch in Mkg

The 4th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung was held on August 27. The meeting was chaired by A.Y. Ovung, Director of Agriculture who also launched the Kisan Mobile Advisory Service (KMAS).
The director of agriculture in his speech apprised the members that SAC meeting was one of the most important platform in the district where issues and programme of agri and allied sectors could be shared and formulate action plan collectively to boost up the economy of the farming communities which is the ultimate target of all the concerned departments. He also requested all SAC members to actively participate and use the platform as a decision making point for activities to be passed down to the farming communities. Dr. Deepak Chetri joint director of agriculture in his keynote address requested the forum to coordinate with KVK and support them with all relevant available technologies for dissemination so as to meet the food requirement and self sufficient as projected in Vision 2020 for the district.
The achievements during 2009 -10 and Annual Action Plan for 2010-11 of KVK was presented by Samuel. Sangtam, SMS (Agronomy). The committee reviewed and approved the action plan to be executed during the year 2010-11. S. Sosang Jamir, programme coordinator KVK Mokokchung highlighted in brief about KMAS aim at informing the latest relevant farming technologies and its application through mobile phone SMS. At the initial phase 200 farmers in the district will be benefited with this service. Other dignitaries from directorate of agriculture included T.V. Holo Joint Director of Agriculture and Director SAMETI, Dr. Deepak Chetri Joint Director of Agriculture, Dr. Amenla, lady training officer and R.V. Rajandranath, project officer. Altogether 25 participants attended the meeting.
