With a view to assist district administration and government of Nagaland in streamlining the traffic at NH-39, Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) inspected the landslide area and by-pass-Jotsoma Road and Pedu NH-39-Chiese NH-61 roads. In an open letter to the DC, Kohima, KCCI suggested after the inspection that all vehicles going down to Dimapur should be allowed to pass through by-pass-Jotsoma road and only light vehicles should be allowed to approach towards Kohima through by-pass-Jotsoma road. It further added that all goods carriers and heavy vehicles be diverted to Kohima via Pedu NH 39-Chiese NH-61 road. KCCI keeping in view the traffic regulation in NH 39 landslide may take long to be restored, stated that by-pass-Jotsoma road was deteriorating rapidly and Pedu NH 39-Chiese NH-61 road would need attention at the earliest. The KCCI reiterating that it would safeguard the rights of consumers and business community also brought to the notice of DC on the price rise of essential commodities especially perishable goods due to delayed delivery. It informed that hiring cost of a truck to Dimapur and back had gone upto to Rs.6, 000-Rs.10, 000.
