Special attestation parade held at ARTC & S

In a glittering ‘Attestation parade’ held at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Sukhovi, 150 Assam Rifles recruits were inducted into the force August 17. Lieutenant General Karan Singh Yadava, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles reviewed the parade which was witnessed by a large number of audience including parents of the recruits.
While addressing the recruits, the DGAR informed the gathering that the Assam Rifles was the oldest para military Force of the nation and its role was diversified which included guarding of North Eastern borders, conduct counter insurgency operations and to help the civil administration in maintaining peace and security.
The Force also undertakes various civic action and developmental projects in NE region for welfare of the local populace. He complimented Brig Devraj Anbu, YSM, SM, Commandant and his team of dedicated staff of the ARTC & S for imparting value based training to the recruits and providing well trained soldiers for the Force.
The DGAR stressed that every recruit on passing out from ARTC&S should be able to live up to the expectations of his comrades, battalion, force and the country in the days to come. He further exhorted the personnel to keep on doing well in welfare of the countrymen and keep up the good name of the Force by way of the hard work and dedication and keep the Assam Rifles flag flying high.
While complimenting the recruits for being trained well, DGAR reminded them to live up to the name of the Force “Friends of the Hill People” and its primary role “Sentinels of the North East”.
He wished young Riflemen a bright and fruitful future ahead in the Force. DGAR awarded Recruit L N Baragally as ‘Best Recruit’, Recruit SNR Malik was awarded for ‘Best in Bayonet Techniques’, Recruit Laldev Orang was awarded for ‘Best in Sports’, Recruit Jailesh Kumar was awarded for ‘Best in Battle and Physical Endurance Training’, Recruit Chandan Kumar was awarded for ‘Best in Drill’ and Recruit S Nilakanta was awarded for ‘Best in Firing’.
Later DGAR was seen off for Shillong by Brig Devraj Anbu, YSM, SM, Commandant ARTC & S.
