A meeting between the DCs of Dimapur and Karbi Anglong was held Tuesday at the CCI guest house Bokajan where the administration of both districts deliberated on several issues confronting both Assam and Nagaland, reports DIPR.
At the meeting DC Karbi Anglong S.N.Burman stressed on information sharing and maintaining cordial relationship by both sides. SP Karbi Anglong K.K.Sharma highlighted border crimes and supplemented the views expressed by DC Karbi Anglong to maintain status quo on encroachment. DC Dimapur Maongwati stressed on cooperation between both sides for sustenance of socio-economy of people living on both sides of the border. He also spoke of the action of Assam Police who prevented Dikoi village from construction of houses some months back.Maongwati said the government of Nagaland had recognized Dikoi way back in 1989 and urged Assam to respect the sentiments of the people by maintaining status quo.
Maongwati also said the Supreme Court has set up a three-man local fact finding committee and assured his counterpart that the Dimapur administration will not allow further construction till the case was settled.
He also appealed to the Karbi Anglong administration to limit wine shops at Lahorijan as per norms in order to check inflow of IMFL to Dimapur. Aier also appealed to his counterpart to strengthen manpower at the New Field and Dillai gate to check illegal inflow of narcotic, IMFL and crime-related problems. He also suggested inviting the excise commissioners of both states to the next meeting.
