Observing that the political struggle today has been reduced to in-fighting due to differences rooted in distrust and rivalry, the NNC has opined that the strategy and only armament that would work now to save “ourselves and the nation” was admitting own mistakes honestly instead of blaming others. Speaking at the NNC general meeting held at Kuthur village Tuensang on Wednesday, “Gen. (Retd)” T. M. Keyho NNC said this would enable the Nagas to come together again and truly trust each other and find final and acceptable political solution for the people.
“If Lt. Phizo “failed to guide the nation” at that time of the Shillong accord crisis as truthfully alleged, did Th. Muivah not misguide the nation subsequently?” Keyho questioned and said these core political issues needed to be examined honestly without fear, wanting nothing for self interest or defense but solely for the purpose and furtherence of real reconciliation, healing of the land and restoration of Naga struggle.
Throwing light on the “exact meaning of Nagaland” Keyho said the nomenclature was officially coined by the NNC which meant - all the Naga inhabited areas along with their traditional lands which were treated as if transferred to others by the alien forces without the consent of the Naga people. These entire lands been given by God is the original Nagaland, he said. Stating that this should not be confused with the Indian made puppet state of “Nagaland” within Indian union, Keyho the present state of Nagaland was only one-third or one-fourth of the original size of “Nagaland.” He said it was proper to use “Nagalim” or “Greater Nagaland” because Nagas do not have any agenda to encroach any others land.
He also said there were three different politics in Nagaland today. According to Keyho, the first one was the Naga National Politics which stood for defending sovereignty and integrity, the second was the Indian State Politics with “dubious and dirty elections” and the third was factionalism and fratricidal politics. “If you cannot differentiate these things, how are you going to lead the Nation?” he asked the national workers. He said it was high time Nagas learnt who was who and what was what and not rushing here and there beating around bushes and thus creating more confusion and bloodshed.
Also speaking at the meeting, “Gen. (Retd)” I. Panger Walling said the NNC was the only genuine and authentic political organization in Nagaland with people’s absolute mandate. He called upon the people to unite and work together with the common aspiration in order to bring about final and acceptable political solution for the people.
The meeting was chaired by NNC vice president Kiumukam Yimchungrü while the vote of thanks was proposed by member, central executive council, Zapuvisie Lhusa.
