Dimapur to host NE knowledge expo

Coinciding with the declaration of the year of entrepreneurs by the state government, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with support from DoNER would be organising knowledge expo at Urban Haat from August 19-21. The expo, which is the first of its kind in the entire NE region, is aimed at creating a platform for dissemination of knowledge on varied range of vocations.
Addressing a press conference at Hotel Saramati, Senior director and Head-Development Initiatives of CII Indrani Kar, informed that the expo has been organized to create employability and promote avenues for income generation within the state. She also further added that NE forms a major area of work for the CII in promoting business for livelihood. Kar also said that similar Expos would be held across the region.
Chairman of CII Nagaland, Thungbemo Murry, also informed that 3 ITIs in the state has been adopted so far under the partnership of CII and state government. While, convener of the Expo, Ajay Sethi disclosed that besides local institutes and colleges, institutes from the national arena would also be participating in the expo. 22institutes have so far have confirmed participation, he added.
The expo is open to all interested persons, with special focus on educated unemployed and school/college dropouts. Another objective of the Expo is to catalyze short and long terms financial assistance in form of easy loans through banks and financial institutions.
Meanwhile, inaugural programme of the Expo would be held at 10 am at Urban Haat, Dimapur with parliamentary secretary for Industries and Commerce Dr K C Nihoshe as the chief guest and additional chief secretary and development commissioner Alemtemshi Jamir as guest of honor.
