Minister for land resources development, soil and water conservation, P. Longon inaugurated the new office building of District Project Officer (DPO) at Tuensang on August 16 as chief guest. On the occasion, Longon lauded the officers and people for the initiative in completing the work of the new building on time.
The minister in his speech highlighted the activities of the department and encouraged the farmers to cooperate with the department for economic development of rural masses.
He emphasized on the sustainable farming which could bring food security for the people and also highlighted about watershed management program taken up by department with the help of central government.
Watershed is and integrated approach where different activities such as formation of women self help group, livelihood activities, afforestation, horticultural activities, land development etc are taken up. Earlier, Hekato N, District Project Officer, DoLR, Tuensang chaired the inaugural programme.
Speeches were delivered by N. Zhasa, Commissioner & Secretary, DoLR, Nagaland and Neise Mich, Director, DoLR. The minister was also accompanied by commissioner and secretary department of land resources and director, department land resources.
