A male in his 20s (yet to be identified at the time of filing this report) was killed after a Mahindra Bolero, in which he was travelling, went off the road and plunged into Chathe river Friday evening at around 5.30 pm. The vehicle was reportedly heading towards Dimapur.
Police could not say if there were any others in the vehicle. The raging current would have swept any occupant.
The maroon colored Bolero bearing registration number NL-10-5576 was pulled out of the river at around 9 p.m. The body was later brought up after being tied to a ladder.
According to some sources, the vehicle was attached with one assistant director of Printing & Stationary department.
Dimapur police, Fire brigade and personnel from 20 and 24 Assam Rifles Bns coordinated efforts to retrieve the body and the vehicle.
