EATACOL launched in Mkg

Launching program of EATACOL (Entrepreneurs Associates Thrift and Credit Cooperatives Federation Ltd.) Mokokchung Zone was held at Longkumer Kilem, Mokokchung with registrar, co-operative societies M. Imtila Jamir, as the chief guest. The chief guest in her address acknowledged the efforts of the Entrepreneurs Associates (EA) in their endeavour to promote the culture of entrepreneurships amongst Nagas particularly the youths.
She said Naga people looked upon government for jobs but added that government was only the facilitator and that government cannot be the biggest employer. Therefore, she added that people must look for other alternatives like taking up entrepreneurships etc.
She also expressed hope that EATACOL would act as a facilitator by way of providing loans to deserving candidates. She called upon all to be sincere and honest and urged the EATACOL to lead the way in inculcating the culture of repayment of loans in the minds of the people.
Earlier in the program, keynote address was delivered by Neichute Doulo, Coordinator EA Nagaland wherein zonal office of EATACOL at Mokokchung would be the first to be independently set up in Nagaland. He added that office in Mokokchung will be fully operational by September with a little enterprise to help 80% locals in Mokokchung engaged in micro enterprises.
Also speaking at the programme, president Mokokchung chamber of commerce and industries Lanukaba said business community in Mokokchung had began a new chapter with the launching of EATACOL.
He added that it is a blessing especially for the business community and the farmers in general. He also said that this is the first Micro Finance in Mokokchung and added that it’s a big challenge for the EATACOL as it enters into competition with banking marketing. He further called upon educated youths who are yet to decide their profession to decide as it was the right time. He called EATACOL to join hands and work together to develop Nagaland. He also cautioned EATACOL to identify the right person before deciding to help the entrepreneurs.
M. Bendangnukshi Longkumer, Senior Member, CII said business urged the people to come out of the cocoon and be innovative and stop from imitation. He called the people to be enterprising and work hard so that there was all round development.
The program was followed by certification of EATACOL by registrar, co-operative societies which was followed by launching of Micro Finance loan to deserving youths for self employment and micro enterprise. Rongsenlemla Aier, Limasenla Jamir and Longsakumba Lkr availed the facility from EATACOL.
Meanwhile, coordinator of EA Neichute Doulo at an informal chat with the scribes after the program said EA plans to train around 100 youths in business skills. He also said that the Mokokchung Zone of EATACOL would cover some district apart from Mokokchung including Longleng, Tuensang, Mon etc.
He further said that no other district in Nagaland had locals engaging in business activities like Mokokchung and disclosed the statistics they have conducted that 80% of the locals dominated the business activity which was possible mainly after AKM’s ‘Survival 2007’.
The coordinator also expressed hope that through EATACOL, they could help build capacities and self employment activities.
